A native Texan, Amanda Overton was born and raised in the style-centric city of Dallas and schooled in the beats of eclectic Austin, where she spent most of her time in the bookstores and culinary arts community.
She pursued a career in the fine art gallery scene in New Orleans in the mid 90's. After living in the French Quarter sipping Ceylon Tea and researching local artists, she made the big move to NYC. Four years living and working in the city, traveling abroad, classes and studying fine art and antiques, visits daily to every museum during lunch breaks, she felt the call to move West to Pasadena, California.
In 2005, she joined the local Los Angeles home furnishings brand, Cisco Home. There she honed her skills in the true art of master craftsmanship and the fundamentals of scale and proportion in furniture design.
Furthering her vision of sustainable practices in manufacturing working with natural and environmentally friendly materials and years cultivating her design aesthetic while leading interior design projects and building long term relationships she launched Overton House Design in 2018.
She loves long drives listening to George Harrison, Folk or Classical and a good story. Gardening, natural dyes, textile design, sewing, reading old paper books and drinking tea with friends, sharing meaningful conversations alongside her rescue kitties and her little rescue dog, Petunia.
